Spotify is raising the cost of Premium subscriptions, again
in the US in July after news of the relocation surfaced in April. The platform is raising the monthly cost of its plan from $11 to $12 and its Duo plan from $15 to $17, which is the same increase as the $1 and $2 pricing increases from the previous year. Nevertheless, the monthly cost of its Family plan would rise by a staggering $3, from $17 to $20. Students are the only subscribers who will not be spared, as a monthly fee of $6 will still be required from them.

Less than a year after its last price increase in July of last year, Spotify unveiled these new ones. Before that, Spotify hadn’t increased its prices since its debut fifteen years ago. It seems that expecting the subsequent rise to happen so slowly was overly optimistic, particularly considering Spotify’s ongoing emphasis on audiobooks and subsequent cash cow.
Within the next month, Spotify premium users should receive an email from the company outlining the price increase and, if they’d want, a link to cancel their subscription. When Spotify’s current trial period ends, a $11 fee will be paid by users for one month, after which a monthly fee of $12 will be charged.
